Positive Results from Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour in Red Lion Square, Hythe |

Residents and businesses in Hythe have seen a significant improvement following work to address anti-social behaviour in Red Lion Square. The area had become a regular meeting place for a group of adults whose behaviour included street drinking, causing disturbance, and urinating in nearby bushes. This was having a negative impact on local residents, businesses, and visitors entering the High Street. In response to concerns raised by the community, the local Beat Officer increased patrols in the area, engaged directly with those involved, and utilised Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) powers where appropriate. As a result, the group is no longer regularly frequenting the location and reports of anti-social behaviour have significantly reduced. The improvement has been welcomed by residents, who have expressed their appreciation and relief that the issues affecting the area have been addressed. One resident wrote to Kent Police to thank officers for their efforts, commenting on the noticeable difference in the area and the positive impact this has had on those living and working nearby. This is a great example of how community concerns, combined with visible neighbourhood policing and proactive engagement, can make a real difference to the quality of life for local residents. | ||
